The Bivouac (pronounced biv-oo-ak) Adventure is designed to give you an insight to the many facets of this fascinating subject. On this overnight adventure you will obtain first hand practical experience of bushcraft and survival skills that allow you to love comfortably with your environment, including path tracking, shelter building skills, fire lighting techniques, and camp cookery.
We will provide you with a sleeping bag and a waterproof bivi bag, but once you have tracked your way through the wooded area to the camp and gathered naturally fallen wood and tree branches you will build your own shelter for the night. Our experienced instructors will guide you through this process, giving you advice and suggestions where needed to ensure a comfortable night whatever the weather!
At the booking stage of this Adventure you will be provided with a menu choice for various meals that you can prepare yourself or as a group on the fire that you will prepare and light! The meals will be graded in difficulty levels but you will be able to choose from the simple jacket potato to baking bread on the open fire!
Island Adventures are prepared to run this adventure if the weather is poor, as our camp area is sheltered, although groups are reminded that the temperature drops considerably at night and therefore appropriate clothing must be brought by each individual.
All adventures are conducted in woodland/fields and require camping. Equipment requirements for Bivouac Adventures are minimal and the items you require are listed below. If you have any questions as to suitability of equipment or are unsure about anything on the equipment list please do not hesitate to contact the office.
